The Nike KD 4 “Weatherman” Releases On May 21st

Updated March 8th, 2024: The Nike KD 4 “Weatherman” has been been confirmed to drop on May 21st for a $130 retail price, delayed a few weeks from their initially reported May 2nd release date. All other information, including official images and other release details, remains unchanged- you can find it all ahead.

Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 4 from 2012, arguably the best of his signature shoe line, is enjoying quite the revival in 2024. The Swoosh isn’t holding back either as the decision to bring back its three most prized colorways — the KD 4 “Galaxy”, the KD 4 “Nerf”, and the KD 4 “Weatherman” — has left Nike Basketball fans elated at the forecast of upcoming releases.

Inspired by KD’s alternate career aspirations of becoming a news weatherman, Nike designed the KD 4 to look like a graphical forecast of the climate with varying elevations and severity. Primarily green in color, there are blots of yellow, orange and red toward the heel, while the thermal mapping on the foot beneath the sole is taken directly from his own data.

Twelve years later, Nike has chosen to bring back this timeless sneaker release on May 2nd, arriving on SNKRS and select Nike Basketball retailers for $130. At one point, the “Weatherman” KDs commanded well over over $1,000 on the grey market, a testament to just how valuable this shoe is to the basketball community.
