While archival styles may get more pub & press in recent times, the adidas UltraBOOST keeps marching on, a year-in, year-out best seller for the Three Stripes. As the ever-popular sneakers continue to command high demand, they’re rolled out consistently in new outfittings. The latest, in “Energy Ink” and “Collegiate Purple” applies those two trademark tones in heavy doses for an all-around floral look.
Tracing back to the middle of last decade, “Triple White” has been the true home base that each successive UltraBOOST release plays off of. These shoes ditch the single-color upper that frequently hits pairs of UBs, instead functionally weaving shades of purple into their structural knit.
Similarly, those colors seep through in the midsole, as a gradient in varying intensity takes the shoe from “Cloud White” to lilac towards the heel. The final, and arguably central, application of those hues completely paint the medial cage and “adidas Boost” text on the heel counter.
Once reserved for an initial collaboration with Parley, eco-conscious construction has become a constant calling card for the UltraBOOST line. This release also carries that forward, boasting 50% recycled plastic in their yarn uppers.
The adidas UltraBOOST 1.0 “Cloud White/Energy Ink” is available now via adidas.com in women’s sizing, retailing for $190.
Elsewhere out of Germany, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adidas Superstar eyes release towards the end of the month.
