Original article published March 13th, 2024: One Piece is regarded as one of the best manga series of all time, beloved for its storytelling, art, and thoughtful character development. Its 108 volumes have produced over 500 million sales, making it the best selling comic ever, supplemented by fourteen feature films and thirteen TV specials for good measure. For the uninformed, the story follows Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates on their quest for the mythical “One Piece” in order to become the next king of the pirates.
In celebration of the franchise, Puma crafts an expansive capsule collection featuring four unique Puma Suede colorways, each tied to a specific character. While the “One Piece” remains at large, this delivery offers fans a different genre of treasure by way of themed footwear.
The four characters represented here are Buggy, Shanks, Blackbeard, and Luffy, each given a unique design that speaks to their typical hallmarks. The blue/red “Buggy” pair is the most colorful of the bunch, treated with a spiky Puma formstrip, while the white “Luffy” pair also boasts formstrip tweaks in recognition of the character’s white Fifth Gear makeup. Shanks’ maroon pair is perhaps the most detail-heavy, matching the character’s hair color and complete with scars stitched onto the heel in a clear callback. Rounding out the delivery is a “Blackbeard” colorway, delivering a stealthy black look treated with gold formstrip piping in a nod to the character’s jewelry.
All colorways will be available in mens, kids, and toddler sizing on March 23rd from puma.com, joined by an extensive collection of co-branded tees, hoodies, jackets, and more. Take a look at all the designs below and return to our Sneaker Release Dates for the latest Puma drop details.
