In an Instagram post, Vanessa Bryant shares a closer look at the upcoming Kobe Girl Dad Shoes by Nike; included in the slideshow is a heartwarming photo of Kobe Bryant sitting courtside at an Los Angeles Lakers game with daughter Gigi.
That photo depicts the last known public appearance made by Kobe and Gigi; Kobe’s outfit, which includes the orange WNBA hoodie and the Philadelphia Eagles beanie, is confirmed to be the inspiration behind the Kobe 4 “Girl Dad”. The shoes are confirmed to release on SNKRS and select retailers on June 7th for $190.
It appears that several recent and upcoming Nike Kobe shoes are inspired by significant photos and other figments of Kobe-related memories. The Kobe 6 “All-Star 2.0” could be a nod to his 2014 All-Star selection, which was the only time he sat plain-clothed on the All-Star Game bench. The Kobe 5 in Red/Gold may be a reference to his red carpet appearance at the 2020 Oscars.
In addition to these unique colorway themes, Nike is also propelling the Kobe 8 at the forefront of team hoops. Several “Team Bank” colorways (aka basics two-toned colors made for organized squads) will be releasing this Fall 2024 ahead of the new basketball seasons.
