While lifestyle classics like the Air Force 1 and Air Max 95 nod to different locales with “City Pack” colorways, Nike’s golf banner is embarking on its own world tour or sorts, tributing different Open Championship courses.
After wearing special makeup for events in California and North Carolina, the Nike Pegasus 89 Golf now takes a trip across the pond in honor of Royal Troon in Scotland. Once again, we see a full-fledged design overhaul packed with ties to the course and Scottish culture at large, complete with unique materials among other thoughtful tie-ins.
The heel wears a tartan pattern drawn from traditional Scottish kilts, complemented by a cork heel just underneath. Fulfilling the rest of the uniform, we see saddle brown and light grey overlays atop an olive green mesh base, comprising a decidedly dedicated ode to traditional attire. Additional features include special tongue and heel branding, a unique metallic lace dubrae, and on the insoles; a cartoon graphic of a wind-spitting cloud. Golfers familiar with Royal Troon know it as one of the most difficult courses on the planet, largely due to its narrow driving lanes and extraordinary wind speeds as a result of its seaside location.
Pairs are currently set to release on July 18th, 2024 for $140 in unisex sizing, smack-dab in the middle of the open’s runtime. Enjoy official Nike images below and tap our Sneaker Release Dates page to see other upcoming golf shoes from the Swoosh.
