If the revitalized New Balance 1000 caught your eye in the opening half of the year, it’s been a test of a patience for you. The Boston brand is clearly opting for a measured rollout for the Y2K model, but we’re beginning to enter the reported window when the shoe will start becoming more widely available. We’ve gotten nearly a dozen colorways that might serve as the next steps, and another candidate is being added to the slade in this red & black execution.
So early into the retro run of the New Balance 1000, each successive look that hits the internet provides a bit more insight into the color-blocking patterns that’ll define the shoe in 2024 and beyond. An argument can be made that this is a new layout entirely, diverging from the chrome and the tonal executions we’ve seen pictures of in recent months.
Instead, its a two-tone mix between anchoring jet black and vibrant fire red, the later entirely draping the wavy leather overlays, tongue, and select accents throughout the profile. Hits of grey on the ABZORB midsole close out the shoe with a few contrast notes.
Further details are sure to emerge as we get deeper into the Fall/Holiday slate. Keep this article and our Sneaker Release Dates page within reach for up-to-the-minute information about this shoe’s launch.
