The below article was originally published on July 1st, 2024.

Come Holiday 2024, the Nike Vomero 5 will continue its dominance over the newswire thanks to the return of the “Dark Grey” colorway; a standout from 2019 that released alongside “Electric Green” and “Racer Blue” options, both of which dropped again earlier this summer.

The design itself doesn’t break new ground, but contemporary, black and white versions of trending lifestyle models comprise a winning formula when its comes to generating broad mainstream appeal (see the Panda Dunks). The “Dark Grey” colorway actually shares a lot of elements with its 2019 counterparts, although the absence of bright colors produces an entirely different aesthetic. The base and bottom portion of the midsole come painted in “Dark Grey” and black, respectively, while the shoe’s cage, leather overlays, and TPU heel counter appear in the same grey/white/black mix seen on the aforementioned “Electric Green” and “Racer Blue” colorways.

Even unassuming Vomero 5s have gotten harder to cop recent months, and as long as the model stays at the forefront of sneakerhead consciousness, the “Dark Grey” colorway could very well warrant that same distinction.

The Nike Vomero 5 “Dark Grey” is set to arrive Holiday 2024 for $160, but no firm drop date has been floated at the time of this writing. Keep it locked to our Sneaker Release Dates page while we track all the latest details as they emerge, and in the meantime, enjoy official Nike images below.
