Why do kids get all the best pairs? While it’s a bold claim, it’s one levied against Jordan Brand’s GS efforts on a pretty consistent basis (the Black Spiderman Dunks were the latest to join the category.) Even we have to admit it’s intriguing in and of itself the amount of special edition notes that appear on bite-sized kicks nowadays, a fact super visible on the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Mid “Racing.”
The iridescent Jewel Swoosh that sits center on this design is the first indication, imbuing a palpable sense of motion with the gradient from navy to teal that runs throughout the medial & lateral sides. The same toanlity marks the wings logo, mirroring the front-to-back movement, and half of it appears on the upper eyestay panel which reflects the aquamarine hits.
While the rest of the overall profile sticks with the familiar combination of white, red and black, it’s not the end of the special attention this shoe receives. A plush, quilted collar rounds out the material swaps, while the insole is load bearing for this pair’s overall narrative, displaying a checkerboard graphic replete with a Jordan graphic bearing 90s racing typeface.
The Air Jordan 1 Mid is set to arrive in GS sizing this Fall. Though retail pricing isn’t confirmed, expect a slight premium on the typical $75 given its SE nature.
