As players in the footwear industry pivot to match the success of lifestyle kicks like the adidas Samba (see the retro effort behind the ASICS Skyhand), it presents a challenge that can’t only be bested with innovation. Instead, vintage styles have been the answer around the sneaker world. While there’s a host of candidates, perhaps the Nike Blazer Low can prove a suitable response out of Beaverton.

Though the “Dark Raisin” hairy material up top is a rare detail in and of itself, the black sole underfoot is just as unconventional, creating an arresting outfit in nocturnal fashion. This pair carries the “Vintage” subtitle, meaning it arrives with an exposed foam tongue, throwback branding and select retooled details like a softer collar. All told, this is a super dusky pair, fit for those who lean darker in their wardrobe yet prefer some statement piece wear all the same.

The Nike Blazer Low ’77 Vintage “Purple Suede” doesn’t have a concrete release date. In lieu of one, expect a Fall ’24 appearance on Nike.com and retail shelves; women’s sizing is confirmed and a $100 price tag is likely.
