Chrome top notes accent a jet black foundation.

The New Balance 1906R Turns Out The Lights In “Black/Silver”

The New Balance 1906R has taken pole position in the Boston brand’s catalog, and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down, either in collaborations with imprints like CAYL or The Basement, or simply in crowd-pleasing general releases. Squarely in the latter camp, the latest edition leans into the aesthetics of its first retro pairs in black & silver.

We’ve seen a host of tone-on-white (or chrome-on-tone) sort of looks for the 1906R, making this stealthy look a pretty radical divergence from that typical territory. Those requisite metallic notes appear on the weaving leather overlays, but there’s room to work in trademark new balance grey as well, appearing towards the forefoot and in a smattering of adjacent neturals on the sole unit. Jet black mesh on the base upper layer both sets the pace and closes out this design, completing an uncharacteristically stealthy look for the tech runner style.

The New Balance 1906 “Black/Silver” arrives this Fall, retailing for $155. Hit the gallery embedded below to get a closer look at this pair.
