With back to school season in full effect (or truly just about to take place), Nike has rolled out some of their mainstays in some scholarly looks, most famously with the “Notebook Scribbles” collection that graced the Air Max 90, Air Max Plus, Air Max 1 and Air Force 1. Bruce Kilgore’s design is again taking on a scholarly air, just perhaps without the direct academic ties.

The upcoming “Coconut Milk/Bronzine” colorway of the “Uptown” model conjures up images of elbow pads and heavy tweed in our minds, beginning with that burgundy/brown tonality on the leather overlays. The emerald suede that stretches from Swoosh to Swoosh through the heel cup very much influences that atmosphere, as does the deep umber of the mesh sockliner. Finally, off-white on the base layer and midsole is an unabashed embrace of vintage themes, further enhancing the sophistication this pair leans into.

The Nike Air Force 1 “Bronzine” drops this Fall, retailing at the typical $125 price point.
