Gorpcore girls will love these. First teased during the most recent SNKRS Showcase, Nike is bringing back the Air Rift in two classy, contemporary black and white leather colorways this December.
The Air Rift is one of many welcomely weird shoes to come out of the late 1990s, distinguished by its tabi-toe, open forefoot and heel sections, and bulbous sole. The design is inspired by the barefoot runners of Kenya, and the “Rift” name comes from Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. It’s not a Nike ACG shoe but boasts a similar unique, playful essence.
The model traditionally comes crafted out of nylon and canvas, but this latest bundle adds some welcome sophistication with all-leather uppers. Nike’s decision to revive the Air Rift is part of a larger movement to bring back archival models that speak to the outdoor-minded “gorpcore” trend, not unlike other returning cuts like the ACG Rufus and Terra Humara among several others.
Currently, both colorways are expected to release December 2024 for $130 a pop. Scroll through official images below and stick with us for further updates over the coming months.
