The Air Jordan 1 Mid will forever be thought of as the black sheep of its immediate family, but kid’s don’t care about what sneaker purists think is “valid.” Grade schoolers simply want shoes that are unique and playful, and Jordan Brand has been following through with an array of releases that prioritize those two qualities above all else. The latest AJ1 Mid for kid’s features a series of insignias inspired by Jumpman lore, set to release during the Holiday 2024 shopping season.
A white base and “Pine Green” overlays set the stage for what’s to come, taken in “Chicago” color blocking for familiarity. Oversized grey-on-white “Jordan” text settles on the quarter and underlay portion of the collar, while an oversized tongue tag features fiery red branding for added intrigue. Meanwhile, the overlays boast a handful of allusions to #23; Roman numerals dot the heel, the number appears on both medial toes, and hands throwing up twos and threes appear on the lower eyestay panels. Jordan Brand also adds dotted “Air Jordan” text to the medial collar, with the Wings logo appearing untouched on the opposite side. As if all that doesn’t make for enough playfulness, the shoe also features a corduroy tongue and Swoosh logos as opposed to mesh and leather.
A real playground flex for all intents and purposes, the Air Jordan 1 Mid GS “Pine Green/Black/White” is slated to release before the end of the year. No retail price has been comfirmed at the time of this writing, but a slight markup is to be expected given the unique nature of the delivery.
