With the Nike Kobe 9 now entered into the Protro fray, Nike Basketball’s Kobe Brand team will be launching a series of drops that reflect memorable issues of the past as well as new concoctions for the modern day hooper. From the former group is the Kobe 9 Elite “Christmas”, which is confirmed to drop once again later this holiday season.

The daring high-top format of the Kobe 9 basketball shoe was a swift surprise given how Nike and the Black Mamba essentially popularied the low-cut basketball shoe movement. It served a purpose in regards to Nike’s innovation pushes as it debuted Flyknit to hoops for the first time, setting the foundation for evolved forms of the knit material across other basketball models.

The “Christmas” colorway is as obvious as ever; covered in a full red upper with a camo-like mosaic of adjacent colors on the midsole and rubber outsole, the Nike Kobe 9 Elite “Christmas” adds a festive touch via the hits of green on the outsole and the nine strikes on the heel — marks that signify Kobe Bryant’s achilles injury.

Currently, a release date for the Nike Kobe 9 Elite Protro “Christmas” is scheduled for December 12th, 2024 with an MSRP of $240; enjoy a first look just ahead.
