It’s been a banner year for the Nike Zoom Vomero 5. Already a frequent sight in 2023, Beaverton has fully ramped up its efforts around the 2010 silhouette, with dozens of new looks hitting the market in the past 12 months. You’d think that sheer quantity wouldn’t leave much on the bone as we head into 2025, but the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 “Vivid Purple” manages to chart an unprecedented look for the Y2K runner.
The color-blocking scheme tapped for this pair is heavily reminiscent of the “University Red” look revisited and re-released in recent months. Chrome hits at the heel cage and atop the leather overlays, establishing the metallic look that is so dominant in retro footwear.
However, the true intrigue is the dominant royal purple tonality, combined with jet-black overlays for a decidedly nocturnal atmosphere that nonetheless carries undeniable energy at that base layer. Again, the sheer number of Vomero 5s we’ve seen this year makes it increasingly challenging to surprise the consumer, but this already looks like a standout for the model.
