“Lightening” Jolts This Classically-Styled Air Max 90

A high-voltage refresh to some timeless DNA.

“Lightening” Jolts This Classically-Styled Air Max 90

Nearly every model in the Nike archive has a colorway that continually inspires new looks on modern editions, whether it’s the Air Jordan 1 “Bred,” Air Max Plus “Sunset” or the “Be True To Your School” Dunks. For the Air Max 90, “Infrared” remains a touchstone even as it stares down 35 years on the shelf, and another iteration in black, white & yellow looms for this winter.

Outside of a lighter grey on the Swoosh and a swap to nubuck panelling, the color-blocking and general shape of that iconic 1990 design remains in-tact. Of course, neon yellow takes over for the high-alert trademark red. Though it builds off of a tried-and-true formula, the swap from leather or synthetics to shaggy suede makes for a premium pair in total. With the 35th anniversary of the AM90 looming, set to bring high-heat pairs like the Patta Air Max 95 or Air Max 95 “Escape,” this provides a general release appetizer to whet the palette.

As alluded to at the top, the Nike Air Max 90 is expected to land either late 2024 or early 2025, retailing at the typical $130 price point. Check out official images included below while we await further details.
