For years, the Air Jordan 1 has been the go-to accouterment for a big Jumpman release; think back to the “Hare” do-up that followed the Jordan 7, a paired “Laney” colorway that preceded the Jordan 5, to see how far the concept stretches back. Beaverton is continuing that strategy in a significant way, with official images of the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Black Metallic Reimagined” just landing.
While reflective piping gives the “Black Metallic Reimagined” its central spin, the Air Jordan 1 Mid gives an even bigger spotlight here. 3M material coats the Swoosh and collar, but it is far from the only detail ripped from the Air Jordan 5 of the same name. A translucent “ice” sole underfoot, a stark tongue tag in fire red, and the dominant colorway of black and white make the jump four silhouettes backward. Though it doesn’t get the same reflective treatment as the other aspects, a neutral grey tongue closes out this application.
All told, there are two demographics that this release is meant to serve. While grabbing the latest pair of Jordans is now easier than ever, increased price points may disincentivize some consumers, opening up a lane for this pair as a way to get in on a hyped style without a 200+ MSRP. For those who already have the AJ5 circled, this offers a way to sport the colorway without denting the condition of your February pickups.
As mentioned above, we’re expecting the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Black Metallic Reimagined” to land this February in both adult ($125) and GS sizing. Stay tuned for additional info via our Jordan Release Dates hub – otherwise, enjoy official looks at both sizes included below.
