A common refrain from the sneaker public in response to the Nike Book 1 has been an understandable one: why are the best looks for the silhouette exclusive to Devin Booker’s closet? While standout PEs to drum up support for mainline looks is a tried-and-true formula far outside of Phoenix, the point still stands– and clearly it resonated with Beaverton creatives. A slew of once player exclusive looks are set to hit the market as Devin Booker’s signature enters its second calendar year on the market, beginning with the Book 1 “Forrest Gump.”
The simplistic overall design of the Book 1 makes any compositional changes stand out all the more, and the eye-stays swapping to the jagged shape shared by the Nike Cortez is a standout feature in the early goings. Additionally, a traditional Nike-branded heel cup is grafted onto the silhouette in place of the “pages” heel tabs, but the removal of that feature on the “Sunset” and “Sunrise” colorways makes it less of a unique divergence.
Further down the road, the arrival of the Book 1 “All-Star” and Book 1 “Moss Point” will join this Forrest Gump colorway in bringing once exclusive on-court looks into public hands. If this look in particular has caught your eye, circle January 22nd on your calendars and expect a $140 retail price upon release.
