Riccardo Tisci and Nike Are Collaborating On Luxury Handbags

The former Burberry and Givenchy designer is back in Beaverton.

Riccardo Tisci and Nike Are Collaborating On Luxury Handbags

Riccardo Tisci indeed was one of the Swoosh’s splashiest collaborators in the mid-to-late 2010s, branching out from initial Air Force 1 collaborations into wide-ranging work on silhouettes from the Dunk to the Free Train Force. With the return of familiar faces like Frank Cooker and familiar shoes like the Galaxy Foams, Beaverton is laser-focused on “restoring the feeling,” perhaps why we’re seeing the vaunted designer re-enter the mix with a new luxury handbag release, the Riccardo Tisci x Nike Mercer bag.

The standout feature of the accessory is its slanted shape, which is undoubtedly crafted to match the contours of the molded Swoosh on the clasp. Refined style is the name of the game, dotting an all-leather build with gilded accents, including the designer’s monogram at the lower corner. Rounding things out are a removable leather strap, pocked leather strips throughout, and a similarly stylish box to deliver the piece.

In addition to this tangible offering, there’s been some peripheral intrigue if you’re reading the tea leaves. On socials, Riccardo Tisci shared that he received a personal pair of the Nike Zoom Field Jaxx “Limelight,” thanking Travis for sending the shoe along. Scott’s importance in Beaverton goes without saying, so adding the designer’s name to the seeding list could further indicate that he’s back in the swing of things. If so, earnest Riccardo Tisci x Nike footwear could be coming down the line, but we’ll have to wait and see for further confirmation.

For now, the Riccardo Tisci Nike Mercer is reported via select retailers for a March 1st release, currently listed for $520; however SVD tends to post higher-than-normal MSRPs, so don’t be surprised if the actual MSRP turns out to be lower.
