Vans Dips Into The Archives To Inspire The Slim-Soled “Super Lowpro”

Vans steps well beyond their wheelhouse with the fashion-minded model.

Vans Dips Into The Archives To Inspire The Slim-Soled “Super Lowpro”

Vans’ status in skating and its recent embrace of chunky Y2K styles are largely antithetical to the “slim sole” movement, meaning the logline of the Super Lowpro may be a bit puzzling at first. Indeed, the California company doesn’t utilize one of their core models for this new proposition, instead turning to their oft-forgotten Serio line from the ’70s and ’80s. A spin-off venture that explored running and other underrepresented verticals (at least from Vans’ standpoint), the bygone imprint lends the Style 84 as the base of the Super Lowpro.

The semicircular heel counter and overall simplistic panelling on the upper instantly register design language of that era, a more suitable base for the ultra-thin sole underfoot. The uncomplicated herringbone traction and thin lining only further that throwback feel. What is true to the current Vans catalog are the materials, delivering a blend of leather and suede that should read as familiar for any modern devotee.

To close out the all-around throwback atmosphere, Vans tees of their latest entrant with four two-tone looks: black-on-white, white-on-black, red-on-green and white-on-red. Flip through each and you can spot some early experimentation; the “Fairway Green” pair changes out suede underpinnings for plush synthetics instead.

The Vans Super Lowpro is available now in all four of those looks, commanding retail pricing from $80 to $85. The blush “Sepia Rose” pair will release at the start of April. Peruse all of the options via the images below and when you’re ready ot pull the trigger, grab yours using the link HERE.
