One thing all people with diseases share is a desire not to be defined by their diagnosis, and that’s an idea Nike has championed for more than two decades through its collections with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Each year, the program offers child patients the opportunity to express their unique personalities through footwear, often intertwining multiple themes to create sneakers that feel wonderfully personal. Every Doernbecher sneaker embodies that spirit, but few capture it as fully as Sergio Cano Marquez’s Nike Air Max Plus, shown here via official images ahead of its Spring 2026 release.

The pair arrives mismatched, with a black right shoe and a white left shoe. The black shoe reflects Sergio’s love for gaming and drawing, featuring controller graphics, Tetris-style patterns, and colorful illustrations of pencils, friendly ghosts, and rocket ships. The white shoe is even more imaginative, depicting monster lizards enjoying a pizza party against a vibrant New York City skyline. Pizza-inspired insoles add another playful touch, while pebbled orange leather on the tongue nods to Sergio’s love for basketball. Lenticular patches on the tongue reveal the iconic doodled “S” for Sergio’s name, and the “buttons” on the outsole tie back to his favorite gaming controller.

Sergio’s Nike Air Max Plus “Doernbecher” releases Spring 2026 via Nike SNKRS alongside the rest of next year’s Doernbecher Freestyle collection. Expect a $180 price tag if you’re looking to secure a pair.
