Kobe stopped everything, made him redo it — and ran the last sprint with him. Inspired by that moment, the Kobe IV Protro “CHBL” is for those who grind in the dark, rise in the light, and earn every single step towards becoming champions.” A release date has not yet been confirmed, but the shoes may potentially be a China-exclusive release.
Updated May 2nd, 2025: Official images of the Nike Kobe 4 Protro “CHBL” / “Lightning” have been uploaded, making good on the yellow-heavy colorway we spotted in Vanessa’s teaser shots. The biggest development is the interior text on the insole, tying into the latter title with a “”Touch The Line” motto that harkens to a “third rail” idea. At the time of writing, no release date has emerged nor any clarity on whether this will be an Asia-exclusive release.

Original article published April 2nd, 2025: The Kobe shoes enterprise is big business as always, but it already feels like 2025 will be a banner year for the late legend’s line. As Vanessa Bryant continues to shepherd his namesake under the Swoosh, she let loose a preview of some of the upcoming pairs that fans can look forward to. The Nike Kobe 4 “CHBL” is revealed as a part of that update, presenting a sunny take on the overseas endeavor.
Supported by Beaverton since 2022, the Chinese High School Basketball League has recieved special make-ups of Nike hoops product on a yearly basis ever since, but the Kobe 4 easily becomes the most sought-after silhouette made up for the occasion. A buttery gradient from “Soft Yellow” to “Lightening” is the standout feature, particularly attention-grabbing with the speckled midsole detailing. “Dusty Cactus” alternate laces present a way to bring some contrast flair to the profile, but otherwise, these stick around on the warmer side of the color palette in oding to overseas youth players.
The Nike Kobe 4 “CHBL” currently doesn’t have a concrete release date at the time of this writing. However, most of the other colorways that Vanessa Bryant previewed had previously been reported for Summer 2025 launches, potentially also the case for the Kobe 4 at hand. Finally, note that the bulk of previous CHBL pairs have remained Asia-exclusive; no doubt a heartbreaking turn of events for Kobe devotees but a distinct possibility nonetheless.
