Though its renewed run only just eclipsed the double digit mark when it comes to new colorways, Nike has already trotted the Shox Ride 2 out in a litany of inventive looks: evoking leather footwear, CPFM-like aesthetics, and, in more traditional fashion, classic sportswear. We can simultaneously celebrate Beaverton’s willingness to experiment while acknowledging that sometimes revisiting a successful look is entirely within bounds; the latter category is where the “Celestine Blue” Shox Ride 2 at hand lives.
If you aren’t perfectly fluent in 2024/25 Shox Ride 2 colorways, this is functionally a palette swap of a previous “Jade Horizon” edition revealed in November, changing out the viridescent Shox propulsion for a cerulean counterpart here. If you’re picking nits, the tonal grey utilized between these two shoes are a bit divergent; the November release bears “Anthracite,” while this shoe combines “Cool Grey” and Y2K-approved “Metallic Silver.” If nothing else, this and the ice blue accents on the tongue bubble and mini Swoosh at the toe make for a futuristic profile, potentially setting this formula up as one Nike will revisit with additional accenting swaps.
A release date for the Nike Shox Ride 2 “Celestine Blue” hasn’t surfaced just yet. Generally, expect a Summer/Fall debut in men’s sizing, carrying a $190 MSRP.
