Nike Running Cushioning Gets Even Thicker With The Vomero Premium

The Swoosh is serious about running.

Nike Running Cushioning Gets Even Thicker With The Vomero Premium

Through the Vomero family of running shoes, Nike is emphasizing Maximum Cushioning through three distinct expressions of design and innovation. Yes, thick is indeed the trending aesthetic in the running world, but the design is intentional as it is flashy. Faith Kipyegon, who will attempt to break the 4-minute mile figure through Breaking4, has been wearing this new silhouette throughout her training journey.

The Nike Vomero Premium

It doesn’t need to be said that the Nike Vomero Premium is a looker. It boasts a wonderfully high stack height of 55mm at the heel, while a midsole cushioning consists of the prized ZoomX foam with visible Zoom Air pads at the fore-foot and the heel. While not a full-length Zoom Air unit as seen in the Pegasus Premium, the Vomero Premium has intentionally placed the Zoom units to allow them to expand and contract.

Nike has kept the designs of the upper rather simple, keeping to a classic Swoosh placement right at the mid-foot. The Vomero Premium, however, has a fun easter egg by way of oversized AIR lettering, an homage to the Air More Uptempo basketball shoe of 1996. Like the Vomero’s top-line trim, the Uptempo was also a game-changer for its cushioning set-up and bold design.

Below is a full technical spec breakdown showing the bold midsole stack set-up; you’ll see the inner workings of Vomero Premium and how they all interconnect to create a truly remarkable running experience.

The Nike Vomero Plus

Although Sneaker News had uncovered the Vomero Plus earlier this Summer, Nike has officially unveiled the specs and details surrounding the shoe. The Vomero Plus running shoe will launch on August 7th on nike.com.

The middle model of the Vomero family, the Vomero Plus boasts a 45mm stack height (similar to the Vomero 18) on a full-length ZoomX foam sole. The design of the Plus was informed by the learnings from Nike’s Project Dreamweaver runners, a women-led initiative that worked with non-professional women runners and athletes as they trained for Olympic trials.
