As has been the case frequently in recent times, it was Jae Tips that dredged up an old school Saucony model, introducing his legion of devotees to the retro Saucony Matrix, built on wavy sidewalls and steeped in Y2K aesthetics. To their credit, the Boston brand has made the most of the model’s newfound time in the sun, further bringing in Colour Plus for an earthy counterpunch and bringing back the Ben Stiller-approved OG yellow and black.

Now as the mainline push continues, the Boston brand is getting a bit more experimental, issuing a “Fade Pack” on the Matrix where gradients are in focus. Saucony designers have proven plenty creative with their inline packs, exactly the case with two contrasting sky-inspired looks, one capturing a cloudy daytime vista and the other looking to duskier fare. On either, the quarter panel issues a gentle gradient, mirrored with neutral Three Stripes branding hits that radiates metallic tones out from their centers.

Expect the Saucony Matrix “Fade Pack” to hit Saucony.com in short order, retailing for $160 upon arrival.
