NBA All-Star Weekend has been pivotal in the sneaker world for decades, and now we’re finally starting to see The W get its due. Nike Basketball has three hoops shoes dropping July 18th, including Nike A’One and Sabrina 3 colorways inspired by the WNBA’s striking orange logo. Given Kobe Bryant’s focus on elevating women’s basketball following his playing career, the Kobe 6 is an obvious choice for rounding out the trio.

The meteoric rise of the WNBA can and should be accredited to its players, but Kobe’s influence in the late 2010s played a big role. He trained and mentored young women through the Mamba Sports Academy, and coached his daughter Gianna’s AAU team of the same name. Kobe was also a fixture at college and WNBA games, oftentimes with Gigi by his side. In one of the last public photos of the two prior to their tragic passing, Kobe sat courtside at a Lakers game wearing an orange WNBA hoodie. It provided some needed visibility for a league on the rise, indirectly inspiring the Kobe 6 colorway we have on our hands today.

We should note that the Kobe 6 “Total Orange” releasing publicly is different from the PE spotted on Jalen Brunson and DeMar DeRozan. The sneaker comes drenched in orange from heel-to-toe, save for silver accents on the Swoosh and tongue sheath. Importantly, the PEs differ with white on the tongue, Swoosh, and outsole.

Again; the Kobe 6 “Total Orange” releases July 18th via Nike SNKRS, retailers, and boutiques. Scroll back up to our Where To Buy section to get all your raffle entries in on time.
