Matt Varga Call it a fad if you will, but the energy surrounding the adidas Samba “Cheetah” has truly reached a fever pitch. Maybe adidas knew they had a hit on their hands in the early stages of production or maybe their subsequent efforts have come as a direct response, but either way, the Three Stripes have launched a full animal offensive throughout their catalog since that shoe has caught on; the adiZero OG SL70, adizero Adios, and Taekwondo have each greeted the concept in recent months.
In a genuine “what took so long” moment, that dominant motif greets another one of adidas’ pressure points for 2025 as a set of adidas Superstar colorways bearing animal kingdom overtones now steps to the fore. Interestingly, it’s not the red-on-orange cheetah that gets the shine here, instead opting for the secondary green-on-black. Backing up that variation is an equally statement “Cow Print” edition, pinning pony hair throughout the shell toe’s upper with a cream foundation and black/brown spots dotted throughout. Either one essentially carries through the same material blocking, leaving the sidewalls to the special edition touches while maintaining leather tongues and the iconic rubber toe.
The adidas Superstar “Cheetah” and “Cow Print” haven’t been assigned concrete release dates at the time of this writing, but generally, you can expect a late August / September launch for both. Givne the elevated treatments here, a retail price in the $140 – $150 range is likely.
