Carmelo Anthony Signs Air Jordan 12 “Melo” Before Hall of Fame Induction

It’s a day that’s been confirmed since April and known to the NBA world for far longer: Carmelo Anthony is about to officially enter Springfield. Stepping into the Hall of Fame alongside fellow legends like Dwight Howard and Sue Bird, Melo has been taking part in the typical press round-up associated with the occasion all weekend, leading to a full-circle moment as he put his John Hancock on the Air Jordan 12 “Melo.”

Originally minted during his rookie year, his namesake Retro couldn’t have asked for better timing, hitting the shelves anew just months before Anthony becomes immortalized. He took to Hoop  Hall head-to-toe importantly representing NYC, a city swelling with pride as a franchise legend gets his flowers and one that #7 still calls home after his playing career concluded.

Yet the fan that put this AJ12 in front of Carmelo kept things Denver all the way; pairing the kicks with a retro Nuggets jersey for an additional autograph. In case you needed any reminder of Melo’s longevity, the audio of the fan exchange should do it: “How long has it been since you’ve seen this jersey?” Melo’s response? “Probably since I played in it.”

The enshrinement ceremony takes place on Saturday, September 6th at 7 PM ET.
