Skate And Hoops Collide On The Mark Gonzales x adidas Jabbar Hi

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is to the skyhook what Mark Gonzales is to the 360° flip. Two legends in their own right are colliding on an adidas Jabbar Hi featuring artwork by the pro skater, set to release later this year.

Skate and basketball shoe crossovers are obviously nothing new — far from it (just see the Nike Dunk). That said, this isn’t technically a skate shoe as it doesn’t fall under adidas’ ADV skate line. It is, however, a compelling ode to the two legends that influence it. The bulk of the sneaker comes dressed in “Chalk White” leather, complemented by hairy suede “Shadow Red” on the stripes and ankle collar for a slight vintage vibe.

Artwork by Mark Gonzales — who began making art in the early 1980s by decorating his own skate decks — appears on the tongue and heel. Gonzales’ hallmark ghost motif can be seen greeting a basketball wearing Kareem’s signature performance goggles, while the ghost itself sports the goggles on the insoles. Quite a clever and personal way of tying these two sports legends together.

The Mark Gonzales x adidas Jabbar Hi releases December 6th, 2025, likely via adidas CONFIRMED. See official images below if these might make your wish list.
