The Nike Shox R4 Gets Classy With “Dark Pony” Leather Exteriors

Another mashup concept.

The Nike Shox R4 Gets Classy With “Dark Pony” Leather Exteriors

Famously, the Vomero 5 took a modest performance in 2010 as a proper running shoe and parlayed it into a dominant fashion piece in its second catalog go-around a decade later. It’ll take much more sustained success for the Nike Shox R4 to reach that same status, but it as the Nike Shox TL have been almost as frequently seen in the Swoosh’s seasonal offerings as the Vomero was in the early days of its bring-back.

Some of the colorways that the piston-powered model has worn in that span could’ve plausibly passed as sportswear, but Beaverton designers have increasingly played around with off-the-court textures and materials. For the Nike Shox R4 “Dark Pony,” the inspiration is clearly the world of formalwear, as the team pulls out luxe brown exteriors that’d you’d find deployed on loafers. Continuing that premium air, adjacent off-white notes coat that hoops platform and the collars before interrupting it with a flash of bright teal on the insoles.

Look for the Nike Shox R4 populating Nike.com and partnering retailers either as we close the year or open next. A slight premium on the model’s usual $155 sticker price is likely given the special touches utilized here.
