Wale Brings The Nike GT Future To The DMV

Anyone who’s paid attention to sneakers for more than a few years knows well Wale’s importance to the hobby. A walking inspo album before the inspo album, the DMV rapper has, as of late, launched a bid to reclaim his crown as hip-hop’s king of sneakers. Yet this time, he’s carried the full weight of the Swoosh behind him, deployed for the Foamposite One “DMV” and a friends and family edition of the Air Max Goadome.

Each of those moments has tied the D.C. native to silhouettes with deep-rooted ties to the region, but arguably his most significant have come attached to the street icon of the future. Wale is now inextricably linked to the Nike GT Future, helping give the public its first look at multiple colorways of the high-flying hoops silhouette. Included in that group was his own collab edition, a reflective “Teal” with artist-specific callouts on its peripherals, and now he and Foot Locker are coming together to help bring that shoe into public hands for the first time.

The new blue gradient colorway with reflective uppers will be officially dropping on December 13th, exclusively via an extremely limited Foot Locker in-person launch. Taking over the brand’s branch at The Shops at Iverson in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland, trust that this won’t be your average sneaker drop; the man himself will be in the mix as attendees get their chance to get their hands on the hardwood / aspirant streetstyle kicks, with food and beverages provided and the opportunity to take some Wale-inspired photos to boot.

Again, you’ll want to head to Foot Locker Hillcrest Heights on December 13th from 1 PM to 3 PM to get a chance at nabbing the Wale x Nike GT Future and catch Mr. Folarin in the process. Refamiliarize yourself with the colorway via the shots below and keep the official flyers within reach for reference.
