Sneaker News For nearly two decades, Jordan Brand has celebrated the Air Jordan 11 as an unofficial holiday in the month of December. Hordes of sneaker fanatics flooded mall parking lots to form endless queues, with each attendee sharing the same hope to cop a pair at retail. That scene has changed drastically; these in-person releases have been transported to the digital world (largely for safety and security precautions), but the energy is still there. With the return of the Gamma 11s, we’re witnessing the Air Jordan community coming together for one of the best times of the year.
The Gamma Blue 11s originally released in 2013, debuting a brand-new retro colorway to break away from the streak of originals like the Concord and Space Jam (as well as the early era Cool Grey). Featuring a near all-black upper with a vivid blue hit on the Jumpman and outsole pods and a bright varsity maize on the heel and tongue strip, the Gamma Blue Jordans were an instant classic and proof that the Jumpman had the chops of bringing the 1990s icon to the new era. In 2025, they’re revisiting the colorway with the updated “true to OG” shape for the first time.
