Tyrese Haliburton continues to show off PUMA Hali 1 styles, this time taking to Instagram with a PE created for his alma mater, Oshkosh North High School, which he led to a state championship in 2018.
The infamous NBA poll that labeled Haliburton the NBA’s most overrated player, followed by Indiana’s deep playoff run packed with big-time performances, served as a reminder not to poke the bear. But the warning signs were there long before this past season. Back in 2018, a then–high school senior Haliburton was taunted with chants of “weight room” during the state championship game. He responded by dropping 30 points to lead Oshkosh North to victory, including 23 in the second half.
The PUMA Hali 1 “Oshkosh North” PE features Haliburton’s high school jersey number 14 on the tongue, a number the school retired in 2022. The sneaker arrives in a multi-shaded green colorway to match the Spartans’ uniforms, complete with a dark-to-light gradient along the midsole. Haliburton personally delivered the pairs to Oshkosh North’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams, and it appears they’re already lacing ’em up in games.
There are currently no plans for these to see a public release, though high school-inspired basketball drops do exist in some capacity (see the Nike Kobe 5 “Lower Merion Aces”).
