Sabrina Ionescu’s Hometown Inspires The Nike Sabrina 3 “Walnut”

Though only six seasons into her professional career, Sabrina Ionescu’s trophy cabinet is already stacked, presenting plenty of glory to pull from as her signature line plays out. Yet it isn’t all winning ways with the Nike Sabrina 3, elucidated by the “Twin” or “Most Valuable Mascot” editions that nod to sentimental and sillier fare, respectively. The model returns to the homefront for its latest act, revealing the Nike Sabrina 3 “Walnut.”

There’s little doubt that the “Walnut” in the title, especially given the lack of earthy tonality on this shoe, is a nod to Ionescu’s Walnut Creek hometown. Where exactly that inspo manifests is more opaque, but perhaps it’s as simple as nodding to the aquatic namesake that also appears on the city’s flag. Even if the narrative isn’t laid bare, the shoe is plenty appealing as is, mixing up said cerulean shades through the upper before bracing with a gold Swoosh on the lateral side and black trim in the tongue and outsole.

It’d appear that the Nike Sabrina 3 “Sapphire” is a Grade School exclusive; retailer listings for this colorway don’t carry an adult counterpart at the time of this writing. Should this one catch your eye, keep our coverage close by for its January 1st release date. A $110 MSRP is expected.
