For those who pine for the bygone days of sneaker culture, Nike’s reinstatement of Frank Cooke was a true salve, a hiring that no doubt added fuel to the fire of “restoring the energy” within Beaverton. Much of his effort under the Swoosh has focused on revitalizing the Nike Air Force 1, steadfast soldier of the sportswear titan and one that’s redoubled its ability to shine given the right story; a run of patent leather pairs, the Chanel-inspired “Boucle,” and the Protro “Frobe” each prove that.
Whether more run-of-the-mill pairs can experience a “rising tide raises all boats” sort of headwind remains to be seen. However, inline designers have proven plenty capable of cooking up innovative, clean editions all the same, something we’d attach to the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Black Fossil” on offer here. Subtly adjacent tones of dark grey and black mix in the uppers, delivered in a heightened blend of tumbled leather and shaggy suede. While it’s hard to miss with an all-black of this nature, a cream liner and translucent outsole do well to break up that palette and create some contrast intrigue.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Black Fossil” should be populating the usual channels (Nike.com, retail doors) for Spring 2026. Catch official images below and watch our Sneaker Release Dates page to keep a bead on this pair’s launch.
