Steph Curry’s sneaker free agency era has been rife with tributes to NBA legends and sneaker culture at large. We’ve seen the Warriors guard lace up the “Flu Game” 12s in Utah, the Reebok Shaqnosis and Nike Pennys in Orlando, and even a Brandon Roy Nike PE in Portland, all suggesting there’s a clear and intentional effort to give our community the eye candy it’s wanted after the three-point GOAT surprisingly parted ways with Under Armour last year.
Ahead of last night’s Warriors vs. Clippers matchup in Los Angeles, Curry paid homage to the “Point God” by lacing up the Jordan CP3.VII, the seventh signature shoe for future Hall of Famer Chris Paul. Curry played with Paul for one season in 2023-24, where the veteran guard was tasked with coming off the bench and running the second unit for the first time in his career. The NBA universe was stunned in late 2025 when the Los Angeles Clippers, the team Paul spent much of his prime with from 2011-2017, unceremoniously sent the 12-time All-Star home following a 5-16 start to their season, hardly the retirement tour the NBA legend deserves.
Chris Paul was one of the first signature athletes under Jordan Brand alongside Carmelo Anthony and Derek Jeter, debuting his first model in 2008 and concluding the line with thirteen in 2020. Despite being an early pillar of Jordan Brand’s signature roster growth, some might say the CP3 line is one of the more underappreciated in the brand’s history, overshadowed by Melo during its inception and later overtaken by names like Zion, Tatum, and Dončić.
The CP3.VII debuted during Paul’s first Clippers stint in 2013 and is regarded by hoopers as one of the line’s better models. Following warm-ups, Curry switched into the Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Gold Medal”, once again reminding us of Steph’s insane shooting feats at the 2024 Olympics.
