If you’ve even a passing interest in basketball, your timeline has been taken over by the New York Knicks and their ever-rabid fanbase. Scores of blue and orange faithful made the trek down to Philadelphia to see the ‘Bockers close out the 76ers in their first sweep since 2000; yet the energy hasn’t been visible only at Wells Fargo Center. Madison Square Garden’s immediate surroundings and really the whole metro are now stricken by Knicks fever, a local passion that truly broke through on the internet in 2021.

The accelerant that turned “Bing Bong” and musings on Tom Brady, Kevin Durant, and Trae Young into inescapable memes was Sidetalk NYC, now tapped by the Swoosh to further tap into the energy around the city. Luke Manley, one of the video’s breakout stars and recent star of Marty Supreme, was featured over the weekend in a collab spot between the media imprint and Nike, promoting an exclusive New York City edition of the Air Force 1 Low.

Draped in Knicks orange and blue (or Mets/Islanders, if your associations on the hardwood lean elsewhere), the shoe further elevates the Big Apple’s heritage with NYC brands on the tongues and heels. Tumbled leather uppers and a gum bottom round out this pair, a palette in sum of “Safety Orange/Rush Blue/White/Gum Medium Brown.”

To our knowledge, this Nike Air Force 1 Low “NYC” is exclusive to Nike’s new SoHo location. Though Nike hasn’t officially announced release particulars beyond a surprise Mother’s Day release in store, attendees report that there were healthy stock numbers on Day 1. No details regarding a wider online drop have surfaced just yet.
