Sneaker News Vans may have quietly engineered one of the biggest surprise sneaker hits of 2025 with the release of the Vans Old Skool “Souvenir”. Loosely inspired by the vintage aesthetic associated with a certain Chanel handbags, the premium reinterpretation of the classic skate silhouette quickly became one of the year’s most sought-after footwear releases, proving that Vans still possesses the ability to create genuine hype when product and timing align correctly.
Following the breakout success of the original “Souvenir” pair in brown as well as the burgundy pair, several new colorways of the model are beginning to surface. This is, of course, a familiar strategy within the sneaker industry whenever a silhouette unexpectedly catches fire. Once a winning formula emerges, brands rarely hesitate to expand the offering.
Previously, Sneaker News revealed an upcoming white “Oatmeal” edition of the shoe. Now, additional leaks have confirmed at least two more styles are on the way, including a rich navy blue version and a salmon orange colorway. While the overall construction remains consistent with the original release, the new color palettes shift the energy of the design as it departs from the original look of said Chanel bag that was considered to be the source material.
What makes the success of the silhouette especially notable is that it arrived during a period where Vans had seemingly struggled to maintain cultural momentum against increasingly aggressive competition in both skate and lifestyle footwear. That said, the 2026 outlook was bright and nearly half a year in, Vans has managed to “revive” the brand as one of the most relevant in the casual lifestyle scene.
Official release information for the upcoming colorways has not yet been announced, but the expanded rollout now appears inevitable. More details to come.
