Next up is a more creative spin on the state’s biggest city, as official images of the Nike Book 2 “Iron Fist” load in.
To briefly recap, this shoe immediately adds to a string of D-town classics like the Tigers’ navy and a zoologically accurate striped version, further stretching back to his debut shoe with PEs like the Detroit Stompers. For the Nike Book 2 “Iron Fist,” we look to another sports icon in Joe Louis. Though born in the Deep South, his legendary fighting acumen was harnessed and honed in the Motor City, leading to the construction of three monuments sprinkled throughout the city.
“The Fist,” or the “Monument to Joe Louis,” is where this shoe finds its central inspiration. Shimmering silvers are plastered throughout the upper, utilizing the hardened Foamposite-like shell that’s paced pairs like the “Phoenix” or “Eggplant.” There aren’t many special-edition touches outside, but flip to the interior for all-over print insoles where a full map of Detroit is displayed.
