Matt Varga Vans has perfectly exemplified an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach with their recent moves. Spawning from the meteoric success of their original Satoshi Nakamoto collaboration, the California company has dipped back into that exact link-up several times, additionally bolstering its limited ranks with their own “Pearlized” formulations in the spaces between. Following a full blow-out of the “Souvenir” line, bringing its numbers up to five distinct colorways, the same treatment is back on the menu for the gem-laden editions, as a new Vans Old Skool “Pearlized” Black adds to the upcoming calendar.
Interestingly, though the “Marshmallow” colorway from last year is dropping as a restock, this black colorway doesn’t fit the same criteria. Fitted with a less scuffed sole unit and a brand-new product code, the blocking remains near-identical to the stealthy colorway let loose towards the beginning of the series in September 2024. Regardless of the subtle differences, trust that the same “Pearlized” charm lives on this black pair, with gem embellishments down the Sidestripe and on the heel/toe anchor panels.
