Andrew Rizzo No drought lasts forever. Fresh off celebrating their first championship in over half a century, Knicks fans have new reason to celebrate with word that the Air Jordan 10 “Knicks” is coming back for its first-ever retro release after 32 years.
We floated the idea that a larger Jordan 10 “City Pack” retro run might be in the works when we heard the Jordan 10 “Sacramento” was returning, and now that clearly looks to be the case. The Jordan 10 “Knicks” released in 1995 alongside Sacramento Kings, Seattle SuperSonics, Orlando Magic, and Chicago Bulls-inspired colorways, the intention being to appeal to those fanbases in lieu of having MJ on the court as the main marketing engine (he was between his baseball detour and return to basketball when the model dropped).
The Jordan 10 “Knicks” features a white leather upper with contrasting black hits on the tongue and midsole. The lining and the running list of MJ accomplishments on the outsole arrive in royal blue, while the Jumpman on the heel of the outsole appears in orange. There’s something inherently iconic about any Knicks-themed Jordan given just how badly MJ tormented the franchise in the ’90s. Most folks under 40 don’t hold that grudge, but a select group of NYC uncs still keep a strict no-J’s rule, opting to lace up Ewings instead. That largely doesn’t apply to today’s consumer, and the fact that Knicks fans have arguably never been more boisterous and willing to spend on gear should bode well for the shoe’s performance at retail.
