Throughout its 36-year-old history, Jordan Brand has been criticized for not offering women-exclusive footwear. Over the last five years, the NIKE, Inc. subsidiary has made strides on this front, while also modifying classics like the Air Jordan 1 Low with design cues catered to female sneaker enthusiasts.
Yet to be officially announced by the brand, a platform sole-donning iteration of the aforementioned pair – named the LV8D (read: elevated) variant – has recently appeared in a neutral white and grey colorway. Construction across the upper remains true to Peter Moore’s 36-year-old design – including the placement of the “Wings” logo. The biggest deviation from the inaugural low-top Air Jordan 1, then, arrives via the exaggerated, fashion-forward midsole and outsole combination underfoot. Tread pattern has been updated on the women’s retro, although it’s likely not meant for the hardwood. Nevertheless, the platform sole help the muted color palette make a statement.
A firm Nike.com release date hasn’t been disclosed by the brand, but that’s likely to change as 2022 inches closer. In any case, enjoy early images of the pair.
