“Terrascape,” a relatively new concept that was introduced in 2021, has slowly made its way throughout the entire Air Max line-up, bleeding into the lines of the Air Max 90, Air Max Plus, and now the Air Max 97.
Similar to its peers, the silhouette was remodeled with sustainable parts and turned more outdoors-friendly. Breathable materials replace rugged leathers and suede, with synthetics adding a water-resistant element across the mudguard. All of these are dyed a soft, off-white shade, which directly contrasts the midsole, whose grey-colored, scrap-adorned surface is owed to the use of Grind Rubber. The outsole, too, is recycled, though it — unlike the multi-color insole — proves as much with a subtle speckling.
Branding has also been given a slight makeover. The Swoosh, for example, has been shifted closer to heel, attached loosely as if only held down by the paneling the logo lays underneath. Elsewhere, the tongue embroiders “NIKE” in a style unique to the Terrascape collection; and adjacent, the latter’s name appears across the sockliner as well as the heel tab.
