Less than a year into his residency as creative director for the Boston-based brand, Aime Leon Dore designer Teddy Santis has been hitting the ground running from headlining the 990’s “Made In USA” collection to introducing a supportive high-top counterpart to the New Balance 550, the 650R. While its release calendar has remained sparse, this upcoming silhouette has chosen the Kentucky Wildcats color palette to dress its latest offering.
More streamlined than its 1980’s predecessor, additional “Royal Blue” padding around the forefoot and ankle is present as is the shorter height of the puff and stitched collar that’s lined with the presiding shade. The remaining all-white leather construction is easily recognizable as the entirety of the models lower half mirrors that of its low-top counterpart to a T, aside from its flipped “650” branding done in the previously established Cobalt hue. Additional samplings of the black and blue tonal spectrum are established along the nylon tongue tags, “N” branded midfoot, the sectioned tread and heel counter logo and clip, concluding the three-tone medley borrowed from the Wildcats.

For more offerings of the silhouette, a red counterpart to the New Balance 650 has also been revealed.
