The New Balance 990v6 was first teased in mid-June 2021, but didn’t launch until November of last year. Since then, the latest offering in the NB 990 series has had a staggered release cycle, only dropping in classic grey and black outfits in addition to a collaboration by Action Bronson.
Recently, the FuelCell-cushioned design emerged in an all-new grey and navy color scheme that suggests the Boston-based brand will rev up its production. Breathable mesh and premium pig suede divvy up real estate across the upper, with the former material exclusively opting for a light grey tone. Panels along the sidewalls – including profile “N” logos – deviate in a deep blue hue that also appears on the top of the tongue. Underfoot, the robust cushioning solution features a partly “aged” aesthetic that’s in line with several other Made In USA projects since Teddy Santis took over the program.
