Over the last year, the Nike Air Max 1 has appeared in dozens of styles in honor of its 35th anniversary.
Ahead of summer, the Air Max pioneer has emerged in a “Lost Sketch” concept based on a drawing by Tinker Hatfield that resurfaced in recent times. Mudguards on the sneaker feature the “Safari” print that Hatfield used on the aptly-named Air Safari. The pair indulges in a mix of “Diffused Blue” and “Indigo Haze” that differs from what landed on the original Air Max 1. Sole units offer more differences from what the world has come to know of Hatfield’s iconic design: aligned with the “Lost Sketch” theme, the midsole opts for an “aged” aesthetic, while the big bubble boasts its full-length. A hand-drawn “AIR” marker appears above the visible Air component, transplanting the legendary sneaker architect’s sketch onto a wearable product.
Enjoy detailed photos of the pair ahead, and find the shoes via Nike SNKRS on June 16th.
