In 2017 Nike gathered the best high school hoopers from New York’s five boroughs for a city-wide summer tournament titled NY vs. NY. Culminating in crowning the championship borough at the illustrious Rucker Park, The Swoosh has annually bestowed both players and spectators with thematic colorways from the Nike Dunk Low to the brand’s ever-expansive on-court toolings.
While Kevin Durant’s 16th signature silhouette has yet to officially launch, the Nike KD 16 will serve as the introductory model for this year’s collection of footwear centered around a maroon and cream-accented palette. Initially debuted by the two-time NBA Champion during the 2023 Western Conference Semis, the Zoom Air cushioned ensemble enjoys a near-clad “Team Red” composition. From the mesh base and TPU plate to the tongue construction and nubuck overlays, the near entirety of the upper dresses in wine red hues while subtle cream accents attribute the laces, collar lining and tread made up of clock gears. Elsewhere, the silhouette finishes up utilizing a golden metallic allure, curing the heel’s EASY medallion, NY vs. NY tongue tab and symmetrical Swooshes before providing a contrasted split between the mesh and nubuck sections.
The Nike KD 16 “NY vs. NY” is currently scheduled to release in concert with the end of the tournament on August 12th for a retail price of $150. In the meantime, enjoy a detailed look at the pair below.
For more on-court toolings from the Beaverton brand, Jordan recently unveiled the Jordan Luka 2 in five initial colorways.
