The Nike Air Force 1 Low “White/Photo Blue” Is At Home With Y2K Trend

Two-toned goodness from the 2000s.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low “White/Photo Blue” Is At Home With Y2K Trend

Whether you’re on board with it or not, the Y2K trend continues to claim attention within the world of fashion. Nike, Inc. has participated in the movement, debuting new styles that look old and retroing old pairs for new audiences. The Nike Air Force 1 Low “White/Photo Blue” is an example of the latter effort.

Given how expansive the model’s catalog of styles is it’s difficult to pinpoint whether or not the aforementioned color scheme previously landed on the shoe, but it’s likely. Two-tone color schemes dominated the Air Force 1 throughout much of its first 25 years on the market, helping it stay afloat when the Swoosh planned to discontinue it. (The story goes that three Baltimore-based retailers – Cinderella Shoes, Charley Rudo Sports, Downtown Locker Room – banded together to propose a “Color of the Month” program to Nike as a way to reenergize the shoe in 1984.)

As with some of the most traditional takes on Bruce Kilgore’s design, the newly-surfaced pair features a “White” leather upper that sets the stage for rich contrasting touches. Profile swooshes, upper spine overlays, and branding on the tongue label deviate in titular “Photo Blue” flair. Tried-and-proven outsoles also indulge in the vibrant blue hue, creating an Air Force 1 Low that could’ve been spotted in Harlem, St. Louis, or other major city in the U.S. throughout the 2000s.

Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, and anticipate a nike.com launch before 2023 ends.
