Sneaker News Updated January 22nd, 2025: Comedian Justin LaBoy shows a closer look at the newly released Yeezy Slides aka YZY SL-01.
Kanye West is on a mission to take back everything he’s created when in partnership with adidas. His recently released shoe, the YZY SL-01, has an official nickname established by Ye himself: the Yeezy Slides.
This is obviously an interesting choice given the adidas Yeezy Slides were among the best selling shoe models ever made under the adidas Yeezy umbrella. But with that partnership coming to an end, Ye is motivated to reclaim the globally recognized name. Earlier in January, West accused adidas of “design theft and oppression”; in response, adidas wiped its online sites of any mention of Kanye and Yeezy products.
West came forward to reiterate that the official name of the slip-shoe is the YZY SL-01, but curious minds can’t help but call them under its more familiar brand name. Kanye does in fact own the Yeezy trademark, so perhaps there are plans to completely transition the YZY brand name to its former imprint.
Ye just unveiled new colorways of the YZY SL-01 aka Yeezy Slides in a light bone and grey; these $20 Slides have not yet been released, but stay tuned for updates and purchase the black pair here.
