Boasting over 25 years of timeless design language, the Nike Air Max 97 has been dressed in nearly every fashion and textile imaginable. Yet, the Beaverton brand continues to find new and exciting ways to recontextualize the iconic Christian Tresser design, such as this “Malachite” green-injected effort.
Cast in a near-white finish, a neutral-based “Photon Dust” amplifies a majority of the upper real estate, from the full-length smooth leather mudguard to the midsole, laces and mesh tongue construction. Interjecting the off-white introduction are seldom “Obsidian” contrasts that clarify the mesh base layer’s slivered appearances in tandem with the mid-foot cut-out, heel tab and inner lining. What’s more, the monochromatic exoskeleton is imbued with a vibrant green finish across the tongue tab, profile swoosh and along a singular TPU strip. The first model in the Max Air family’s lineage to feature a full-length air unit amplifies its undercarriage with a classic gum treatment along the tread while the toe-to-heel cushioning system is dyed in bright green.

In other news from the Beaverton brand, the Book 1 “Cool Grey” recently surfaced.
